When your kitchen the center of your home it is appropriate to have a stunning  piece of tile art for your backsplash. The homeowners were inspired by the Tile Mural Kitchen Backsplash Josh custom made. They loved the swirls and wanted to simplify the background and accentuate the vines to flow throughout the tiled backsplash.

The Process
It started with a series of drawings to be approved. Taking the selected design all tiles were made and laid out on our work table and let them get leather hard.  Josh made strips of wet clay and places them to look like the drawing and make sure everything works. To attach the vines he scores and uses clay slip then with a wood tool burnish them to the leather hard clay field tiles.  He cuts all of the vines to each 3×8 then lets them dry for a couple days. Once they are dry each tile is numbered on the back and then Josh glazes them. The tiles go into the kiln and after they are out are reassembled to make sure they all fit together.

The Jade Moss tile that I selected was perfect for my classic craftsman themed kitchen in my 1920’s craftsman home. The order was processed quickly and efficiently. I am very happy with the quality of tile and the service provide.

Clay Squared did a great job of listening to what we wanted and interpreting it into something we love! The tile artwork they created is the highlight of our kitchen.
