A workshop making public art
Public Art is a Tricky Business…
Collaborative Art is a Tricky Business…
Scaling Art “Up” and Engineering Durability is a Tricky Business…
We are going to do some tricky business together and create a durable, collaborative, Public Art piece that will change with each viewer’s perspective as they approach it from different angles, directions and orientations.
Working with clay, colored engobes (under glazes), slips, extruders and scraffito, we will make a series of sculptural elements that, after their final firing, will be installed on the front of the FLUX ARTS building.
In creating these parts we will consider how, in a 3 dimensional matrix, they will work together to draw the viewer’s eye from the specific to the encompassing and, in the process, explore how large things can become even larger, when composed of multiple smaller elements.
Participants need no prior experience or any specific skills–
just an interest in the world of Public Art & Community building!
