Mermaid's Turtle Celebration

Inspiration: I had never made a dimensional sculpture of a mermaid (they had all been wall pieces) so when I needed to make pedistal pieces for my show at the Hudson Hospital I took that as a challenge to make this mermaid.  In my imagination she existed mostly as shape in motion without any details.  It wasn't until I started building her that the details came together like the turtle mother and the baby turtle in her hands.

Technique: This piece had a very complicated armature and included rocks and tinfoil in the base which was covered with Apoxy-sculpt and glitter.  I added the pre-baked waves and coral to the Apoxy Sculpt when it was still soft.
