THE STORY OF LEAVES
Josh's parents, who lived in Vermont at the time, commissioned him to make leaf tiles for their kitchen backsplash. They sent him a packet of the actual leaves they wanted which he photo-copied and laminated. He still uses those same laminated leaves, laying them on the wet clay he carves around them to create a bas relief effect and positions each one in such a way as to make them look like they are falling. Three different glazes are used to create the fall color effect, and two other colors for the background.

INSTALLATION
All Leaves except the 3 inch size come notched horizontal or
on-point for hanging as art pieces. Leaves may also be installed
as traditional tile. If you are installing them as traditional tile, please review our installation guide before grouting.

VARIATION
As the beauty of these creations is in their handmade character, high variation in shape and color are to be expected.

LIFE SPAN
Leaves are handcarved of exterior grade terra cotta with an expected lifespan of 100 years.
